Hemp Packaging That Doesn't Cost the Earth

Hemp grows in 120 days, produces 4× more fiber per acre than trees, and creates paper that's naturally stronger and more durable. Our ZERO TREE™ hemp bags and packaging prove that sustainable packaging can outperform traditional alternatives.

2× Stronger Than Tree Paper

Hemp fibers are longer and more tightly bonded than wood pulp, creating paper products that resist tearing and hold more weight without breaking.

100% Tree-Free & Compostable

Every hemp bag and packaging product is made from 100% hemp fiber. No trees are cut. Our hemp bags are backyard-compostable and fully biodegradable.

USDA Certified Biobased

Our products carry the USDA Certified Biobased label — independently verified as 100% biobased content. The highest sustainability certification available for paper products.

120-Day Harvest Cycle

Hemp reaches harvest in 120 days versus 20-80 years for trees. One acre of hemp produces as much paper as 4 acres of trees over a 20-year cycle.

Carbon Negative Production

Hemp absorbs more CO₂ per acre than any commercial crop. Our packaging actively reduces atmospheric carbon while replacing tree-based alternatives.

Food-Safe & FDA Compliant

Our hemp bags use food-contact compliant inks and coatings, making them safe for direct food packaging in restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores.

Hemp Paper FAQ

What is hemp paper made from?+

Hemp paper is made from the bast fiber of industrial hemp plants. Unlike tree paper, which requires 20–80 years of growth, hemp reaches harvest maturity in just 120 days. Our bags are 100% hemp fiber, USDA Certified Biobased, and fully backyard compostable.

Is hemp paper stronger than regular paper?+

Yes — hemp paper is approximately 2× stronger than tree-based paper of the same weight. Hemp fibers are longer (up to 4.5m vs 3mm for wood pulp) and contain more cellulose, resulting in superior tear resistance, wet strength, and durability. Our bags hold up to 15 lbs.

What sizes do hemp paper bags come in?+

We offer five standard sizes: #2 (small retail), #4 (lunch bag), #10 (grocery), #16 (merchandise), and #25 (large carry). Custom sizes and printing are available for orders of 5,000+ units. All bags are food-safe and compostable.

Are hemp paper bags compostable?+

Yes. Our hemp paper bags are 100% backyard compostable — no industrial composting facility required. They break down naturally in soil within 60–90 days. They are also recyclable and contain zero plastic, coatings, or synthetic additives.

What is the minimum order quantity?+

Our minimum order is 1,000 bags for blank (unprinted) bags. Custom-printed bags start at 5,000 units. We also sell individual bags and small packs on Amazon for sampling. Wholesale pricing starts at $0.120/bag for large volumes.

Is hemp paper USDA certified?+

Yes. Hemp Paper Company products are USDA Certified Biobased with 100% biobased content — the highest possible rating. We are listed in the USDA BioPreferred Federal Catalog, making our products eligible for federal procurement preference under the Farm Bill.
